November 1950. The impact of the Korean War had come to the entire Korean peninsula, or rather, almost all corners of the country. Then there was a remote village in depths of the Cordillera Taebaek, called Dongmakgol, a place where guns, bigotry, racism, violence or hatred could not corrupt and that he was unaware of the outbreak of a war between the two Koreas.
One day, near the village falls a U.S. fighter plane with a soldier in the Allied forces. Simultaneously to this, comes a group of North Korean officials and a South Korean soldiers who had lost in the woods, both received with warmth and hospitality by the people of Dongmakgol. Thus begins a tense coexistence between a soldier of the allied forces, military officials and North Korean South Korean in the village, whose inhabitants are totally unaware of the relationship between the "visitors."
course, there are fights between the soldiers due to ideological discrepancies and the conflict situation which hit the two Koreas. However, little by little spread from the innocence and joy of the people of Dongmakgol, for whom the color of the helmets and uniforms, grenades and all the weapons of the soldiers bore no meaning.
The problem arises when the Allied forces decide to bomb the village area, suspecting the crash was caused by U.S. attacks enemy. Aware of this, the "newcomers" to Dongmakgol undertake a joint campaign to defend the town and its people, forgetting all about their rivalry.
Welcome to Dongmakgol was the official candidate of South Korea to the Academy Awards in 2005 and is listed as one of the best Korean films of all time.

A film that combines drama with comedy to show the image, maybe surreal, as the life of a village may be different to be isolated in the world, and even when "visitors" with different ideologies and enemies each other, still does not disturb their "innocent" way of life, but on the contrary, wrapped in their ideas of peace and harmony.
It reminds us that war does not produce anything positive, rescues human values \u200b\u200bof respect, innocence, mutual aid, cooperation, brotherhood, and many others who apparently sometimes for political power and / or economically we forget.
The scenes range from the very dramatic until you steal more than 3 minutes of laughter. It has some scenes somewhat exaggerated (to my taste), but overall is an excellent film with a beautiful picture and a beautiful message that the unit everything is possible.
definitely a good recommendation for an evening of movies ^ - ^
